Great news for fellow 3D Sony PlayStation3 users!  Firmware 3.50 was released today, and features 3D Blu-Ray support!  So if you are lucky enough to get your hands on some 3D Blu-Ray movies, the PS3 is now a fully compliant device.

I have an older 60" Mitsubishi DLP with the Mitsubishi adapter (which I've been playing 3D games with for some time now), and I can report that the Bluray 3D does work with the adapter- and it looks incredible! After seeing both the Panasonic and Sony TVs at BBuy- I still think my DLP looks better, has no ghosting, and cost me under $1500 WITH the adapter and 4 pairs of Tridef glasses :)

Can you try removing the adapter, and see if the 3D Blu-Ray still works?

Some members have DLPs that the adapter is not compatible with.

I can try a little later possibly, but for what its worth- the 3D games did not support the TV sans adapter, so I'm very doubtful that it would work.

I'm almost certain that the Blu-Ray spec, and Sony's gaming spec are different. So, some people may enjoy 3D Blu-Ray at least.

Sorry... looks like no dice for anything but HDMI 1.4a. No option for checkerboard, line-interlace, side-side or over-under. Tried on a Sammy DLP. Works GREAT on a Sammy 1.4a Plasma, however.

As fas as I know, only the Panasonic BDT300 and BDT350 3D Blu-Ray players have native checkerboard out as an option.

Best,

David

Very good news. I will be getting a PS3 as soon as I get an HDMI 1.4 display.

The fact that you need to choose between lossless sound and 3D is pretty lame. Obviously, if you want to watch a 3D movie, you're going to choose the 3D, and then miss out on the lossless sound. Because of this, I'm not sure I'll be using my PS3 as a 3D BD player. I might have to get a standalone.
