MTBS has been guest writing for Gamasutra to talk about the different aspects of the 3D industry.  The first article was a rebuttal to leading criticisms against the 3D industry, the second was about stereoscopic 3D glasses, and the third was our analysis of why some media outlets are against stereoscopic 3D gaming in a big way.

Are there aspects or myths about stereoscopic 3D gaming that you would like to see discussed?  Share your thoughts below.

Hi, All those gamers and visual artists have a point in the gamasutra forums. But with every new technology you have to buy it to have it. Just like if you want to have a slide out phone, sure it helps you type text in and not have the buldge in your pocket but you could keep your old flip phone with no slide, and your hands will suffer.

3D is relaxing I must say too, just as long as it is setup properly and coding right.

Some of those people might of liked to have a holographic televsion come out by now too, so spending 1-6 thousand dollars on another 2d rectangle looking panel might not be to thrilling.

I am happy with the techology coming out and the 3d companies working towards mid-air effects in tommorrows future.

Why do people compare going from 2D to 3D with going stereo audio to surround? Surely a better comparison would be mono to stereo sound. I remember people having to buy specialist equipment to produce stereo sound. Recently on BBC Radio 2, Jonathon Ross and Johny Walker (old school pirate radio DJ) where discussing the resistance people faced when stereo was produced. Apparently, the media lot thought it sounded rubbish and would never catch on...

True. Surround sound isn't really that immersive as it could be...
Offtopic but. :P
However: When playing music you can try the "Hafler hookup configuration". According to my own experiences it can really sound great and fills the entire room with atmosphere. Levels are best optimized when using fullbridged amplifier (no speakerterminals connected to the amplifiers internal 0 volts). In other words: The amplifier has two bridged outputstages where the standard speakers are connected traditionally and the rear speakers connected between the plusterminals respective the minusterminals of the amp. So all speakers are connected in a "ringformation".
Amazing what such simple solution can do....
