DDD Group Restructures 3D Conversion License Deal With Samsung - Quick Facts


(RTTNews) - DDD Group plc (DDD.L: News ) said it restructured the license agreement that allows Samsung Electronics Company Ltd. to use DDD's automatic 2D to 3D conversion technology in Samsung's new 3D enabled LED LCD HDTVs. The company said that the per unit royalty paid for each Samsung 3D TV equipped with DDD's TriDef 3D technology was reduced in order to enable Samsung to include the feature in a wider range of 3D TV models.

Well even iZ3D's beta player with their "proprietary algorithm" is not working great, form what I read in their forum thread http://forum.iz3d.com/viewtopic.php?t=2257. The state-of-the-art in automatic 2D-to-3D conversion is just very rudimentary at this stage; otherwise studios don't have to spend money doing manual conversions.

not exciting news REALLY!!!
Its only a gadget not the real thing!!!
And for games Nvidia drivers are better.

The real meaning of these news is that Samsung TVs will continue to support DDD/Tridef drivers and the checkerboard format.
