3D is all the rage, and it was only a matter of time before manufacturers jumped on the 3D bandwagon and started makiing 3D televisions. (They've actually been ready for a while in Japan.)

Retrevo has a great article answering the most common asked questions about 3D Blu-Ray movies, 3D Blu-Ray players, 3D TV's, HDMI 1.4 and more.

I'm posting this because 3D at home is the next step in movie watching entertainment. But is it going to be worth the extra cost once you realize your current setup is going to have to be replaced?

What Makes a Blu-ray Player 3D Compatible?
Two important features will make Blu-ray players able to play 3D movies. HDMI 1.4 is the latest cabling standard that supports a high bit rate necessary to send the extra data the TV needs to display two different images to each eye for the 3D effect.

Except that HDMI 1.4 has the same maximum data rate as HDMI 1.3.
