The Vatican has slammed multi-million blockbuster Avatar as "technology without emotion" in a scathing attack.
Created by director James Cameron - who also made Titanic - Avatar has taken more than £700million at the box office since it opened last week and is on course to be the biggest grossing film of all time and has rave reviews.
But this failed to impress L'Osservatore Romano, the Vatican's official newspaper which said the 3D sci fi blockbuster had "Numerous captivating special effects but little true emotion, that is human emotion...visually there is impact but the plot is stale."

Which the Catholic church is against? Does he want to relive the medieval?"In the end it is just reduced to an anti imperialistic, anti militaristic parable..."

No, they're just pissed that no money from the movie ends up in their collection bags.

Well apparently it is not imperialistic and militaristic enough for them. Guess they want to take the crusade to space. From what I've seen them little gray aliens will totally outsmart the church men. Them are pretty clever
with warp speed, telepathy 'n stuff.

I agree with him on the story.
That said, it's still way more fun than the Bible, not to mention. Far more believable, which by the way has 0 visual impact.

Ha Ha.....I'm more interested in seeing members of the Vatican (including the Pope) sitting in an auditorium, in full regalia, wearing 3D polarised glasses.
So after a quick rendition of "My Heart Will Go On" on the ivories, it's a quick visit down to the local Cineplex to watch Avatar in 3D.

I agree with cybereality completely!
THE GAIA theory was too much present to please the Vatican, so the negative reaction from them was fully undestandable.
WELL DONE J.CAMERON AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!
