HDI Ltd. Reveals 3D Projection Display Technology with Greater Than High-Definition Resolution
Revolutionary Laser-Driven Technology Uses 80% Less Power and Costs 60% Less Than Existing Flatscreens

September 3, 2009: Los Gatos, California Research and design firm HDI Ltd., announces the release of its laser-driven 3D projection display technology with a Greater Than High-Definition Resolution. Among the first products to emerge from over three-years of intensive R&D is HDI Ltd 100-inch diagonal 2D/3D Switchable Dynamic Video Projection Display that derives its stereoscopic 1,920 x 1,080p image quality from two RGB laser-illuminated Liquid Crystal on Silcon (LCOS) micro display imagers. HDI 2D/3D Switchable Dynamic Video Projection Display, at a mere 10-inches thick, draws 80% less power than existing 2D flatscreen plasma monitors of the same size, and HDI projection displays are anticipated to have a street price potentially 60% less than current 2D flatscreen plasma displays.

This looks like vaporware, the company doesn't even specify anything.
Is this front projection? or RPTV?
Who's gonna be their clients? and when?
Are they using a true green laser? (these were just recently developed in japan, the only "true" lasers until a few months ago were red/blue)

Lasers are the purest light sources, which would result in an very large color space that our current consumer available material doesn't take advantage off. (other benefits include the fact that lasers maintain the same brightness over time, so no recalibration are necessary, this is somewhat true for LED's too.)
The biggest benefactor for lasers as of now would probably be infitec.
All others stereo pair technologies really work fine right now. So unless he's referring to Infitec i don't see why he's dissing other 3d technology.
