Which 3D TV is best for gaming?
What do you need to play Blitz's new "Invincible Tiger" in 3D?
By Adam Hartley

The age of 'proper' 3D gaming is finally upon us this month, with the much-heralded release of the Blitz Games-developed first game to work with 3D TV technology, Invincible Tiger: The Legend of Han Tao, to be published by Namco later this month.

Added to this the recent news that Sky is set to launch its own 3D TV service at some (as yet unannounced) point in 2010 and it is clear why we are already receiving a slew of emails asking us the same question – "what TV do I need to play 3D games?"

The best 3DTV i have seen so far is the Hyundai Xpol 46" fullHD model, which was shown at dimension3 expo.
I just wish it was less expansive...
Passive 3D forever !
DIY polarised dual-projector setup :
2x Epson EH-TW3500 (2D 1080p)

the game isn't shipping yet, so I don't know if the list will be complete until then, but http://www.invincibletiger.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; - andrew oliver talked about this during Neil's siggraph presentation. He said some 3d tv's work great, some not so great. I am making an assumption here and think maybe most of the dlp tv's will be OK, and perhaps not the plasmas, but that is just pure speculation. Invincible tiger will be out soon, the list may be updated, and certainly the million of players that will play it in s3d will give lots of feedback. So if you can wait a couple weeks I think it would be better to see what tv's will work with blitz game studios console s3d solution, anyways that is what I am gonna do.

Yes but I couldn't find any list (complete or incomplete) in http://www.invincibletiger.com, hence my asking.

I'm trying to understand why some 3dtv's do not work. The 50" Samsung plasma (while not as good as DLP 3DTV's according to majority report) supports more 3D formats (checkerboard, horizaontal interleave, vertical interleave), so should be the most compatible? Or is it because some 3D games only support 1080p and not 720p 3DTVs. etc.

I agree, and I may have it completely reversed, it may be the plasmas are better than the dlp's. Somewhere on invincibletiger.com they don't give what tv's, but it does say under the features tab I believe "dlp" tv's. Andrew is doing innovative things getting s3d working on current consoles, so maybe that is why it only works on certain tv's and not others.

Neil is posting the s3d gaming panels he put on at siggraph, Andrew Oliver talks into more detail about this during the panel. So watch those panels and you should learn more and maybe you can pull a nugget or 2 for us to try and learn more and post back here your thoughts please.
