Neil. This is a great thing you have started.
It's a bold and extremely positive move and I look forward to watching as MTBS3D gains momentum.

Best regards.

Thanks guys!

I can't take all the credit because there are others working hard in the background, but I'm glad you like the mindset behind this.

I think we are going to get a lot of new people who have never heard of stereoscopic technologies before dropping by to learn more.

Please feel free to join in in helping the new players out.

Best wishes,
Neil 8)

Feels good to be un-gagged :D

Great job chopper. It will be very interesting to see how things transpire. Perhaps we are witnessing history in the making?

I can but hope.

Rage!

It's good to see you on the boards.

My expertise doesn't translate so well with projectors. I remember awhile back you posted some helpful advice on how to cut down on ghosting with your setup. Would you be open to sharing some of your ideas in our 3D Hardware Tech Support forum?

Best wishes,
Neil 8)

Looks great Neil, I look forward to see if we can convince game developers and hardware manufacturers, that stereoscopic 3D is the way it is meant to be seen.

Of course we will! Without question!

There is too much to be gained to risk losing this competitive advantage.

You know what? Let's make a point to cut the word "if" out of these forums!

The words of the day are "will" and "when".

You got it brother, change that to when they come to their senses, one thing is for sure, 3D is not going to go away. With more and more products like the monitor you have, the z800 and cards that can push out higher refresh rates at much higher resolutions, there will be a much greater demand for 3D compatibility. I'm confident the companies that do not put the proper resources into stereoscopic 3D, will be at a great disadvantage in the future.

Nice work. If you need contacts for VR equiptment resources and/or other interesting info, myself at the University at Buffalo Media Study dept can get you those contact info.

Also, in an unreleated note, my class I was in for the Fall or 2006 was dedicated to all things stereo 3d. We made stereo photos and movies for our projects. I am proud to list our wiki: http://kirk.caset.buffalo.edu/~depape/212. I am also pleased to announce that I received an "A" for the class, so I am what you would call a "master" in the art of stereo 3d. :D Oh... and if you visit the link, I was the one that created the UT2004 3D Movie which rocked in so many words!

Scarab,

Try the url, but remove the "." at the end.
I think that period is to end the sentence, but just happened to get pulled into the url.
That worked for me.

Congratulations to Chopper/Neil and the rest of the MTBS3d team. I hope that this will help stereo gaming finally become mainstream.
Good luck!
Oh, and a question... When will you make the certification results public? All I see is game manufacturer A, B, C...

Hi Groda,

Thanks for your enthusiasm!

This is where the advocacy comes in.

We are actively sending our results to the game developers as they come in.

We think it is beneficial to wait until we get their official recognition and authorization to reveal our results because it means we will have a real partner in creating stereoscopic 3D success in the gaming industry. The growing wealth of information is also a good motivator for the game developers to participate as this means they will capture the market!

There are a lot of positive developments happening behind the scenes too, so this is all an eventuality.

To speed up negotiations, we need to demonstrate demand from customers like yourself, and I recommend following the instructions in our banner ads.

We are developing an advocacy section for the website, and for our members who are looking to make a measurable difference, I am hopeful you will take advantage of the tools available.

Regards,
Neil 8)

Thanks, Neil, for the reply. I haven't yet bought a stereo set-up myself yet, but I have followed the stereo forums for a few years, and I am, as you mentioned, very excited about the technology. It seems so strange that there has been so little support for these ideas so far.

Yes, what am I waiting for?
I guess the most important reason is that I am still on my way to buy a new computer. The old one is 7 years old... Besides that, I am also waiting for the next generation of stereoscopic hardware (22" iZ3D Monitor, the successor of the z800, etc.) to arrive so that I can evaluate what will be the best buy.

You also asked what ideas I meant. I was referring to stereogaming. It is a bit surprising that stereogaming still hasn't become mainstream, even considering the Catch 22 of the industry: If there isn't a large user base, nobody wants to put a lot of money into researching good hardware, and if the hardware and software isn't working well enough there won't be a large user base...
Regards,
groda
