3D Short! 3O Motorcycles, Racecar, Supermodel, Helicopter

Post by Ole »

Hey guys thanks for having a look at my short fictional 3D Racing film.

Click below for 2D or 3D version. It was filmed for only a few grand.

The film was shot with several Gopro 3D rigs. We had to use the Hero 2 because there was not 3D package for the 3. We also used 6 Sony TD 20's Pro-sumer 3D cameras.

Here is a blog posting on how we did it.

Let me share a little anecdote. I work as a filmmaker but had never done 3D before. I had an hour booked on a seaplane to shoot aerial shots of motorcycles. An hour was all we really could afford. I called tech support at gopro for some advice since I was pretty lost. I got on so well with the guy that he offered to drive an hour and a half and arrive at our shoot at 5 am to rig up the airplane. He then gave us a bunch of gopro gear! We used a suction mount on the wing shooting forward, a handlebar mount on the end of the wing shooting back at the plane so the plane could also be in the film and we were off and running. Gopro is awesome!

We then rigged the hell out of the bikes and car and then got a chopper for an hour and a half and there we had it-a cheap but awesome 3D movie.
