Thats too bad about the viewmaster, I used to love that thing as a kid.

Also, how come there used to be stereo cameras so long ago but now there are none?

Has Dr Peddie got his wires crossed?

It is true that Fisher Price has announced that they are ceasing production of "custom scenic/travel viewmaster reels":
http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-v ... 4044.story

but they have said that they are continuing production of the Viewmaster viewers and their mainstream viewmaster reels (e.g. movie tie-ins, etc).

I cannot find any reliable support for the notion that they are stopping production of the Viewmaster viewers and mainstream reels - only that they are stopping production of the "custom scenic/travel viewmaster reels".

I suspect people are reading the line "stopping production of all custom travel reels", not realising there is any other kind of viewmaster reel, and assuming this means the end of Viewmaster everything...

Even with the ceasing production of _Custom_ viewmaster reels by Fisher Price - this seems no big deal since "there are several other companies that custom manufacter reels in the View-Master format":
