I did back to back testing with the Optoma and I just preferred the image on it a bit more. I may just wait until hdmi 2.1 projectors come out to try upgrading again.
Was the x1300i not better in any way? I thought all DLPs have poor black levels. My TK800 is a couple of years old now and because the bulb has done a few thousand hours, the black levels are better but the colour brightness is worse.
I'm looking at an upgrade and I'm currenly thinking Optoma UHD35(+) or a BenQ, there is still a mixture of lamp v Led v laser etc. etc.

To be honest, I wouldn't worry about HDMI 2.1 for projectors at all. I think contrast and colour are much more important. I don't think DLPs can suport VRR and 4k 120hz is a bit of a dream. I'd rather have a high contrast laser or LED device with good black levels and motion resolution. Plus 3d, obviously :-)

The X1300i was certainly better brightness, but I think the optoma just looks better to my eyes. It's all subjective I guess, I am no expert either. In dark games the Benq seemed worse image, the optoma looks better in dark scenes but worse brightness. I may just keep trying projectors until I find the one I want to keep lol. I also tried the HZ39hdr , it was very bright but somehow the colors / image did not look good to me and the input lag felt like it was higher than it should have been, I only kept it for a few days and prematurely returned it, wish I had kept it longer though. It has potential for sure.

Quick browse - doubt it is 120Hz input. Link to 120hz spec?

Probably still using some type of pixel shift technology and is not capable of any type of 4K 3D.

I bought a new BenQ X3000i last week and have been playing with it all this week.

I've managed to get it working for 3d vision (1920x1080x120Hz) with the Nvidia glasses and the DLP link glasses. I just used the UHD40 edid that Paul shared as a starting point.

Had a lot of wierd quirks with CRU and the Nvidia control panel, but it's a few years since I messed around with this so I'd forgotten quite a lot.

Anyway, the X3000i is simply a fantastic projector. I'm coming from a TK800 and it improves on it in every conceivable way. 4k is fanstasic, it's ultra low lag, the colours and brightness are superb. Black levels could be better, but that's the only negative and the positives are many. I'm so glad I bought one, especially as I changed my main monitor to a non-3d compatible screen some time ago.

I don't know how it compares to the X1300i though, I know you weren't completely impressed by one of those? I think given the other plus points, like the colour brightness and 4k sharpness, this is a great device. It's 100% a keeper for me.
I got it working at 240Hz via my AV receiver too (Denon X4300h), which is a big bonus.

Hi Russell,

This video projector looks pretty good! I am currently using an Optoma UHD42 and there is an ultra detail option (adjustable from 0 to 3) which works wonders in 3D games.

I looked at the documentation for the X3000i and there is also a similar option called detail adjustment (in the image menu). Have you tried it? Does it make a big difference in the detail of the image?

On the Optoma, the difference is very important, you can't play in 3D without activating this option.

Wanted to ask if this was a reasonable price or can I get a better deal elsewhere?

Hi, the projector is extremely good for what I want. It's bright, the colours are great and 3d is good too.
I haven't tried adjusting the image much yet, I'll check it out and let you know. One thing is that this has a new .65 DMD and the 4k is extremely sharp, I've spent a lot of time just enjoying 2d stuff.

I just got the x3000i , but I am having trouble getting 3d vision to work. I installed the UDH40 edid, and deleted all resolutions above 1920x1080 in CRU, also set the refresh to 120hz. When trying to use photo viewer I get the double images and the emitter goes green, but glasses do not go dark and get 3d image.

disregard, I resolved the issue. The x3000i is quite good so far for 3d, minus the red ghosting i get sometimes but it is very subtle and kinda rare to even see it.
