Surre.al: A virtual world with full Oculus Rift support

Post by SurrealGames »

Guys, I want to make sure we're within forum rules here -- we are an indie studio (just 3 of us) that has worked for the last 2 years on an immersive virtual world built on a "West World" model, and we launched on Kickstarter a couple of days ago. The linked video is showing walkthroghs of several environments out of the Unity Engine: We're working closely with Virtuix to support the Omni as well.

Here is the link to the actual Kickstarter: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/sur ... adventures

Please check it out and let us know what you think.

Thanks,

Arthur

Its too bad that nowadays people book their cruise vacations online. This would be a great way to advertise a vacation for different cruises.

I liked your kickstarter video. Everyone was very happy even while working those long hours towards your dream.

One problem, however, may have been clarity of your marketing vision. It was not very clear what your end goal for the game was. I know its very open ended but even saying from the get-go, "this is sort of like second life" which is what came to my mind, would have been more focused.

Thanks for the comment. Yes, we debated the "Second Life" question a fair amount, but decided against drawing the analogy strongly for a number of reasons. Though the project was canceled on Kickstarter, we are continuing development and so you should hopefully get to judge for yourself how close/far it is by end of year. Kickstarter would have helped us create more content for launch, but otherwise does not affect our launch itself.

This looks realy awesome!

How much will it cost?
Will you publish it on steam / greenlight?

Any plan for a closed/open beta?

Mate, it's cancelled. Check the links before you post a question. Cheers!

And check the previous post, Ryuuken24 :) Kickstarter is canceled -- but by no means is Surre.al canceled! We are full on development, days, nights and weekends :)

The next stop for us will be posting a late alpha, or an early beta -- before we would consider going back to Kickstarter, or Steam, we would want to build up more of an audience.
