I was rather hoping to attend this

Dec 11th, 2012
Evolve in London 2012
London, UK
http://www.evolveconference.com

Oculus Rift inventor Palmer Luckey will give the keynote presentation  – Virtual Reality: The Holy Grail of Gaming, in which he will look at how VR is set to push games to the next level. More..

But £122 + Vat is a little too much for two hours i think . Is anybody here going ?

Damm that's a bit pricey. It's about 15min walk from my flat as well :(

Let me know if you want some pub tips for central London Palmer!

The price for the session Palmer's talk is in (Evolve in London) is £414 (£345 + VAT). A shame, the venue is only a hop on the tube away.

Holy Moly - the price DID go up - when I got my pre-invite thingy, I thought yeah yeah... but that's an insane amount of money.

If I could afford to spend that amount of money watching somebody on stage, I could go and see all of these, for about the same dosh: http://www.visitlondon.com/things-to-do ... n-musicals. Though I would probably end up spending it at Rhino's and Sunset Strip.

Palmer; fancy meeting us UK folk for a pie and a pint instead ?

That's a good idea. In fact it would be a great opportunity for him to give me my rift :P

The event is squarely aimed at industry people and priced accordingly to keep the peons out, yes you know who you are ;)

If no one has any other suggestions, St Stephen's Tavern on the the corner of Parliament Sq is nice, and it serves good beer and its not too expensive.

Wow. I missed it when it was in Korea too (lived about 15 minutes away by subway) but I don't recall the event in Seoul costing NEARLY as much as it's going to cost in London.

Bollock pie? Does that mean the same in London as it does up north? Yeah, Palmer, don't eat that. At least not unless you are really pissed and they pay you to do it...

A bit of BSE never hurt anyone! (recently)

I'm starting to think maybe British cuisine wasn't the best way to tempt Palmer to the pub after all...

I wish I could go, I'll be in London before that, but then I'm going back to Adelaide. But I'm probably glad to miss that "cuisine".

Of course in Adelaide, we have "Pie Floaters".

Aww man - that's like a normal pie with far to much waterered down mushy peas!

I didn't mean the pie was made from cows...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bollocks

Maybe it is a regional thing, do you guys actually not realise you are inviting people to eat testicles?

It wasn’t really a formal dinner invitation, just a misguided attempt at humour that seems to be getting out of hand, can we just let the bollock drop already.

Anyway, if a pub “meat” pie sounds a bit dubious I hear there's a good organ doner kebab shop just round the corner…

Don't knock the "meat pies". I had a chicken & mushroom Pukka Pie (?) over there a couple years ago that was fantastic!

Pukka pies are nice, in fact Pukka is actually slang word for “very good” in the south. The pies I was talking about are normally sold out of vans on the side of the road and say things like “may contain animal derivatives from more than one species” on the label! Yum... .Anyway, I think we’ve said enough about British food, Palmer will be packing an extra case full of sandwiches at this point.

That's a risky attitude!

Just had a thought by the way; if you were planning on shipping stuff to the UK around the time of you coming over, it might be better to actually bring them over yourself to make the postage cheaper and also possibly get it to people sooner, Oculus can just pocket the savings. I'm thinking about the November people here really.

Hey, Palmer; when are you over dude ? PM or email me and we can all organise something - I have projects up in Essex I need to be onsite for that week, so would be great to get something in the calendar.

Could the UK contingent who is up for an informal OR pint (or two) post and/or PM also ?

I can only imagine that the visit is fleeting, so something anywhere between, what Sunday 9th and Wednesday 12th ?

At what time should one show up at any eventual meeting place? Thinking on flying over from Sweden just because it's not very expensive (dirt cheap) so it seems stupid not to go :)

I'd go, but I finished my European holiday already. Someone told me Rifts were going to be ready in December so I wanted to be back home for them. :(
I hope the weather's not too bad, I heard there was going to be a -15 degrees Celcius cold snap hitting England.

Anyone up for meeting in central London sometime tomorrow evening?

We have a very crazy schedule, but I want to know if anyone would be able to make it without too much hassle. I will be in Europe in the future, this is not my last trip out here. :)
