MIT Tangible Media lab - inFORM ( is awesome but immobile, loud and bulky; inapplicable to the average mobile user.

Disney's Tactile Rendering of 3D Features on Touch Surfaces ( is not actually tactile, it synch's the image with bumps/air which is tactile but not immersively tactile.

Pyro Board: 2D Rubens' Tube! ( is epic and probably the closest to haptic and tactile 3D projections - though I wouldn't want mobile users devices to ignite flammable fluids.

Have the experts in this forum conducting any market research that has resulted in responsive tactile haptic materials/ material science (think z axis) on mobile devices? I can't be the only person looking for this type of product, right?
