While stereoscopic 3D gaming has (finally!) been earning the headlines it deserves, most are surprised to learn that it has a tenured history that spans more than a decade (more than twenty years in some cases)! Over the course of months, MTBS-TV has been putting together an up close and personal walk-through of how stereoscopic 3D gaming came to be. Its successes, failures, and controversial politics are all rolled together in this series of ten minute videos.
MTBS-TV is personally recorded and broadcast by Neil Schneider, President & CEO of Meant to be Seen and Executive Director of the non-profit S-3D Gaming Alliance.
An added bonus is all the videos are recorded in stereoscopic 3D! The majority of stereoscopic 3D displays will work with YouTube 3D’s standard applet. Here are the exceptions:
iZ3D monitor users will need to have the iZ3D driver resident and play in full screen mode. If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, it may be necessary to turn off the Aero features of the operating system.
Nvidia’s GeForce 3D Vision users need to first download the videos from YouTube, and play them locally with their Nvidia movie player in side by side format. The videos can be downloaded with a YouTube plug-in for Firefox.
Click on the individual YouTube links with each video to see the stereoscopic 3D options applet.
