Profile based upon DDD's great Skyrim profile. It is great seeing a new (updated) game engine work well with Ignition, including almost all game effects. Note that TriDef's Skyrim profile slightly modifies the Generic Profile, with some apparent game specific adjustments. Thanks, TriDef!

Performance may be an issue, even though the game is DX9. A number of tuning web references have already started to appear. I found this link to be useful: http://www.pcgamer.com/2011/11/11/the-elder-scrolls-v-skyrim-tweaks-improve-graphics-disable-vsync-change-fov-and-more/.

With my overclocked 6970, I could not run the game with Ultra settings - fps dropped to unacceptable rates (5-10 fps). In fact, I first had to reduce my GPU overclocking, since I encountered flashing graphics not experienced in other games. After experimenting, I found the attached settings to provide game rendering at/near my 24 fps rate limit. They combine the High setting (I could run full rate) with Ultra setting (too slow). Then, I included some of the key .ini changes suggested above, including the important

change. I also changed bDoDepthOfField to 0 (my preference for 3D gaming; it functions correctly, though).

Thanks TriDef for the fast release of a great profile. The profile does need a more robust fix for the skybox, however. The skybox penalty might actually be a little larger (say, 10%) for Skyrim, with its additional sky effects. Note: I am having some game stability issues with the latest driver release and profile addressing the skybox (and other) issues.

Part III: Top Level Anomalies

Total penalties: 0

Part IV: Secondary Anomalies

  • The 3D skybox is at the wrong depth. Some games use 3D objects for background scenery. Examples could be buildings, a city landscape, and more. In this case, the objects are displayed with the wrong scale, or the polarity of the image is reversed in the background compared to the rest of the scene (the eyes are swapped in 3D for just the background portion).
  • QA penalty: 5% Current profile has skybox fix that causes improper display of water bodies. If you enable Sky Fix in OSD, water bodies display incorrectly, but skybox is at correct depth. Recommend SKY FIX OFF.
