Sony’s Project Morpheus virtual reality headset will launch in the first half of 2016, the company announced at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco this afternoon.
The device, originally announced at GDC in 2014, has undergone significant design improvements since its debut, according to Shuhei Yoshida, president of worldwide studios at Sony Computer Entertainment.
The new Project Morpheus has a 5.7 inch screen and an approximately 100 degree field of view, with an updated 1920 x RGB x 1080 OLED display –”in other words,” said Yoshida, “all the pixels in the display… have red, blue and green sub-pixels, creating a beautiful full HD image.”
