4th Annual 3D Entertainment Summit(R) to Highlight Wide Array of Proprietary and “Virgin” Footage from around the Globe
LOS ANGELES & MILFORD, Conn., Sep 19, 2011 (BUSINESS WIRE) — A wide variety of proprietary and never-before-seen “virgin” 3D footage from international content creators will be featured at the 4th Annual 3D Entertainment Summit(R) in association with Variety, it was announced today by event producers Unicomm, a leading event management company, and The Bob Dowling Group. The 3D Entertainment Summit(R), co-located this year with the 3D Gaming Summit: 3D Gaming & Beyond(R) and the LA Mobile Entertainment Summit(R) presented by Ortsbo.com, is scheduled for Tuesday-Thursday, September 20-22, 2011 at the Hollywood & Highland Center, Hollywood, CA. — James Cameron and Vince Pace, CAMERON | PACE Group (CPG), will show 3D footage never seen in the U.S.
— Nothing To My Name, a 3D concert film/documentary on China’s legendary godfather of rock, Cui Jian, produced by Bai Qiang through his company 3D China Ltd. (Nothing To My Name is Cui Jian’s best known song, the biggest hit in Chinese history, and marked the beginning of indigenous Chinese rock music.)
— 18 minutes of DreamWorks Animation’s upcoming 3D feature film Puss in Boots, starring Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, Zach Galifianakis, Billy Bob Thornton and Amy Sedaris. Footage will be introduced by Phil “Captain 3D” McNally, stereoscopic supervisor at DWA.
— Sony Computer Entertainment’s Mick Hocking is not just talking about the first year of 3D on PlayStation(r)3, he is showing every inch of it with a spectacular all-stereoscopic 3D presentation of over 50 slides and movies. A new technology called SimulView will be utilized, which uses active 3D technology to display two completely different 2D images simultaneously (player 1 and player 2) for full screen competitive gaming with no compromise.
— Universe in a Coffee Cup, a “hypostereo” film that reveals something commonplace with astonishing novelty, and Stereo Time Lapse, a “hyperstereoscopic” 3D movie of urban Japan with a “giant’s eye view” of time elapsing, both from acclaimed Japanese director Takashi Sekitani; presented by “The Power of 3D” session moderator Jim Chabin, President, International 3D Society.
