At its CES news conference Wednesday, chipmaker Nvidia announced that its Tegra 2 chip will be in a bunch of new products, including the LG Optimus 2X, which ZD Net reports Nvidia is calling the “superphone.”
The superphone is pretty amazing, offering up console-quality gaming in the palm of your hand. Jen-Hsun Huang, Nvidia’s CEO, said that the device is a “computer first and a phone second.” That makes sense, given that most people thought the Tegra 2 chip would be used in tablets and not phones. According to VentureBeat, BMW and Tesla will also put the chip into car computers.
The company will also launch a site for 3D video, called 3DVision Live. The site, which is live, can be seen using Nvidia 3D Vision technology or the good ol’ fashioned red and blue glasses.
