Sharp to Launch 3D Android Phones Soon

Sharp is launching two smartphones based on its glasses-free 3D display technology.

Various reports indicate that Sharp will introduce two Android smartphones for Japan’s Softbank network–the Galapagos 005SH– that feature its proprietary glasses-free 3D display technology.

The Galapagos 003SH is slated to arrive in Japan this December, just months prior to the release of the Galapagos 005SH and the release of Nintendo’s 3DS handheld gaming system, both of which are scheduled for a February 2011 release in Japan. The Nintendo 3DS also uses Sharp’s 3D display technology.
