3D trials put on hiatus

THE government body in charge of regulating 3D television has called a halt to any more trials of the new technology, after allowing the upcoming broadcasts of the AFL and NFL grand finals.
The hold on further trials is due to the need to review the first broadcasts earlier this year and to consider issues, including licensing and consumer policy, which may lead to changes in regulations to keep pace with the demands of 3D.
The Australian Communications and Media Authority announced this week that it would issue licences to the Seven and Nine networks for trial broadcasts of the AFL and NRL grand finals, respectively.
