3D coming to a pub near you?

As 3D sweeps into our lounge rooms, Panasonic is also targeting pubs and nightclubs with massive 3D displays and disposable 3D glasses.

Panasonic is showing off its 103-inch 3D plasma display this week at the Integrate Expo in Sydney. Big televisions always make great eye candy at trade shows, but I was more interested in Panasonic’s plans for the commercial 3D market. It hopes to start selling 3D projection systems to pubs and nightclubs, capable of casting an impressive 300-inch image. They rely on cheap “passive” cardboard 3D glasses, a bit like the polarised glasses you wear at the IMAX, rather than the expensive and bulky battery-powered “active” 3D glasses required to watch Panasonic’s 3D televisions.
