Normally when a new technology such as 3D comes to town, you have to purchase the whole deal (cameras and monitors, and of course stereoscopic eye glasses) from zero. Samsung, Panasonic and many others made many “early adopters and must have latest consumers” purchase 3D TVs to watch the big sporting matches and movies like Avatar. However some companies are starting to offer set top boxes that “stereoscope the video” so that a user may view 3D video on a regular TV. But this is not a clean solution, potentially degrading the input source. Compared to the state of art 3D circuitry that the “native 3D TVs” offer, you are only getting the part of the full experience, says the TV makers.
