The Infinia 55LX9500 3D TV is unique in many ways. For starters, it’s based on a performance-centric LED-backlit LCD panel featuring local dimming, which outputs deeper blacks compared with edgelit models. Yet the 55LX9500’s bezel depth is hardly thicker than the latter, thanks to LG’s new Full LED Slim technology unique to the chaebol. These fine attributes, coupled with a slew of advanced features such as wireless A/V connectivity, make this 55-incher a promising all-rounder. Here’s our assessment on this flagship 3D TV costing a steep S$7,499 (US$5,461.76).

Design

Besides LG’s borderless design centered on an edge-to-edge sheet of front glass, this Infinia also sports a narrow 16mm bezel flanking the four screen corners to complement its petite 22.3mm to 31.6mm TV depth. Other notable details include a swivel glass stand with a metal shaft wrapped in reflective acrylic, lighted company logo and a V-shaped power indicator. Although we find its recessed side A/V inputs a little hard to reach, they’re still accessible as opposed to the embossed TV controls on the rear. You’ll have to either strain your neck or try to find the right keys by feel.
