James Cameron Tells D8 How He Made Avatar in 3D

At the D8 conference, Titanic and Avatar director James Cameron talked about how he created Avatar in 3D and why he believed 3D was so important for telling stories, warned against bad 3D conversions, was bullish about 3D at home, and talked about when he thought digital devices would work and when the theater experience was better.

Cameron talked about how he entered the movie business doing visual effects, and learned all sorts of effects that are no longer used today, but that taught him about how to use effects to help tell the story.
