3D free-to-air TV first in Australia

Late night TV buffs had their first chance to view 3D footage from a camcorder in a world-first Australian free-to-air broadcast at midnight.

Panasonic Australia gave broadcasters a five-minute clip of scenic views overnight for 3D test transmissions, which was the first time 3D content has been beamed to homes in Australia.

Test transmissions will run for a period of nine weeks and will include sporting events.
