Sony: ‘3D makes game design easier’
Sony’s senior development manager Simon Benson has said that 3D technology has actually made game design easier rather than harder.
Speaking to OPM, Benson said that although retrofitting games with 3D posed a lot of problems for developers, making a 3D game is actually easier than working in 2D.
“Retrofitting 3D is actually harder than building 3D into a game from the outset,” said Benson. “One of the big issues is that all of the game assets were designed to work with only one HD output. Being able to render them twice to make a 3D output can be a challenge.”
