Sony’s 3D TVs to hit S. Korea in July
Sony will release 3D televisions in South Korea in July, to expand its presence in the country’s TV market dominated by its Korean rivals, Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, a South Korean unit of Sony said Friday.
Sony will embark on promotional events inviting Korean consumers to see its latest 3D TVs in Seoul ahead of the launch of the TVs on the local market, Sony Korea said.
Sony’s 3D TVs are scheduled to hit shelves in the Japanese market in June 10.
Sony, the world’s third largest maker of flat-screen TVs and Japan’s largest, faces a challenge of luring customers away from Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics, which together control more than 99 percent of the South Korean flat-screen TV market.
