How To Train Your Dragon premiered this weekend, with the 3D theatrical release taking the top-grossing spot, and proving yet again how crazed North America is with 3D movies.

Every single theatrically-released 3D movie (not counting specials, one-night shows, etc) in 2009 landed in first place during its opening weekend.

Behemoth titles like Avatar and Alice in Wonderland were not really even questioned, but even smaller releases like Disney’s remake of A Christmas Carol and Sony’s Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs topped their respective charts.
