Boost to film business seen in 3D views

The 14th Filmart exhibition opened yesterday with a strong focus on the development of 3D in Hong Kong.

The trend was clear as the Film Development Council rolled out 3D initiatives and set up a booth to attract investors from overseas.

But acclaimed director Alex Law Kai-yui (Echoes of the Rainbow) said he will wait for the technology to become more refined before using it.

It’s because he “hates to wear those stupid glasses,” he said with a laugh at a Filmart presentation.

The massive success of the blockbuster American film Avatar drew global attention to 3D technology.
