Warner Bros to announce Montreal 3D investment

Warner Brothers is set to announce a major investment in 3D technology in Montreal on Monday, QMI Agency has learned.

The announcement will be made by Quebec’s Minister of Economic Development Clement Gignac and Premier Jean Charest during a press conference set for 2:30 p.m. in Montreal.

Sources have said that the American company will set up shop in the city to develop multimedia and 3D projects, which are becoming increasingly popular in movies and video games. The company’s arrival in the city is expected to create several hundred jobs over three years.

While several millions of dollars will be invested in Montreal, the facilities will not only be found in Montreal’s Cite de Multimedia, a small technology park just west of Old Montreal.

Warner Brothers’ arrival in Montreal is not surprising as the city has quickly been developing a video game industry and other new visual technologies.
