Audiences mad for Alice; Burton film is now top 3D opening.

March 8, 2010 – Disney`s Alice in Wonderland topped the North American weekend box office with an estimated take of $116.3 million. It made another $94 million internationally for a global weekend cume of $210.3 million — $10 million more than the film`s production budget, according to Box Office Mojo.

The Tim Burton-directed Alice also surpassed Avatar as the biggest 3D domestic opening of all time; the James Cameron sci-fi epic bowed to $77 million domestic last December.
