3D Games And Augmented Reality Coming To Nokia?
Nokia is currently one of the leading manufacturers when it comes to smartphone services, and its past record – from the excellent Ovi Maps to the upcoming Point and Find service – proves it’s not afraid to try something new. An interview with the Senior Vice President of Nokia Smartphones – Jo Harlow – gives a fascinating insight into some of the upcoming technologies. Read on after the jump to find out more…
In the past couple of months, we’ve been seeing some genuinely innovative services from Nokia – from the free turn-by-turn navigation in Ovi Maps 3.03 – the incredibly useful Point and Find trial. According to the Senior Vice President for Nokia smartphones – Jo Harlow, it’s looking to continue this innovative streak, with 3D gaming and augmented reality of particular interest.
In an interview with Nokia Conversations, Harlow pointed out Nokia’s interest in 3D technology, stating:
“The opportunity for mobile to actually, to perhaps [sic] be earlier in terms of 3D than the typical television development to mobile is also interesting. Content wise I think 3D – in terms of 3D games and the developer community – those kinds of things, especially among young people could be very, very interesting in terms of enhancing that experience, so I think that there’s a lot of exciting things on the horizon.”
