Seeing is believing: Sony is first to bring 3D to life in retail stores across Canada
Sony`s 2010 product lineup, including 3D capable LCD HDTVs, in select Sony Style(R) stores, illustrate Sony`s new `make.believe` philosophy
TORONTO, Feb. 2 /CNW/ – Delivering on its new global brand message `make.believe`, Sony today became the first consumer electronics company to demonstrate its 3D-capable LCD HDTVs to consumers in retail stores in Canada. For the first time in Canada, consumers can experience movies, sports and video games in 3D at select Sony Style stores.
"From the lens to the living room, Sony is leading the transition to 3D," said Dan Phillips, director of LCD TV Marketing at Sony Canada. "With the first in-store demonstrations of 3D-capable televisions, we`re making the 3D experience come to life for consumers."
Ideal for movie, sport, and video game enthusiasts, Sony`s 3D capable LCD HDTVs use active shutter glasses and High Frame Rate technology to reproduce Full HD 3D images, and will be available for purchase in Canada this summer.
Sony`s BRAVIA(R) televisions feature a new design
Also on display are models from Sony`s 2010 BRAVIA(R) LCD HDTV line up, featuring a new innovative and stylish `monolithic design concept` with a seamless, flush viewing surface with crisp edges and a smooth border, and a unique six degree upward tilt option offers a more natural, comfortable viewing experience.
With LED backlighting and built-in Wi-Fi (802.11) for easy access to the internet and personal content through Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) certified(TM) home networks, these new televisions are another example of how Sony is providing consumers with networked products that enhance the home entertainment experience.
"Believe that anything you can image, you can make real"
Sony`s 2010 product lineup, including its range of "monolithic design" home entertainment products and 3D-compatible products, embody the spirit of `make.believe` (pronounced `make-dot-believe`), Sony`s new unified brand message shared across its electronics, games, movies, music, mobile phone and network service businesses.
`make.believe` reflects the innovative spirit that exists within Sony, and how that spirit translates into game-changing products, technologies, content and services that empower and inspire consumers.
The philosophy behind make.believe is simple: Believe that anything you can imagine, you can make real. "Believe" represents ideas and ideals, while "make" represents the ability to turn those ideas into reality. The dot in the middle is the place where inspiration meets creativity, where creativity meets reality.
"We`re making a personal and practical connection with our customers, empowering them to believe that anything they can imagine, they can make real," says Ravi Nookala, SVP Marketing at Sony Canada. "The key for Sony is how `make.believe` translates into compelling products, content and services for consumers. 3D is a perfect illustration of how Sony delivers unique experiences through the power of our innovation and technology."
