Singapore Pavilion at Asia Television Forum Goes Stereoscopic 3D

Singapore, Nov 19, 2009 – (ACN Newswire) – Brace yourself for a 3D experience when you visit the Singapore Pavilion at this year`s Asia Television Forum (ATF), an event under the Asia Media Festival (AMF) from 2-4 December 2009 at Suntec City Convention Centre. For the first time, the Pavilion will feature Singapore`s industry`s shift towards nextgeneration production and post-production of stereoscopic 3D content and animation.

Themed `Stereoscopic 3D and Beyond`, companies like ST Electronics (Training & Simulation Systems) Pte Ltd and Widescreen Media Pte Ltd will showcase their end-to-end capabilities in 3D. For example, Widescreen will have a professional 3D rig set up to show a live preview, so visitors can see themselves in 3D.

"ST Electronics supports Singapore`s aspirations to be a leading Asian hub in Digital Media. We are actively building our capability in 3D stereoscopic production. Taking this technology beyond the entertainment industry, our objective is to apply these 3D capabilities to provide more immersive and engaging experiences in our applications and offerings in simulation, animation, games and edutainment," said Mr Eric Chan, Senior Vice President/General Manager, ST Electronics (Training & Simulation Systems).

"Widescreen Media Pte Ltd is proud to work with MDA to showcase Stereoscopic 3D production at the Asian Television Forum. We believe this exhibition will promote greater awareness of how Stereoscopic 3D works, and demystify this new dimension of filmmaking for many produ cers," said Mr Ian Wee, Director of Widescreen Media.

Beyond 3D, the pavilion will also feature local media companies such as Scrawl Studios and Sparky animation promoting their content and services.

The ATF which is in its 10th edition, will bring together over 700 participating companies from more than 50 countries, including new sellers such as Discovery, HBO and Turner Entertainment. Confirmed buyers include The Walt Disney Company (Southeast Asia), Taiwan Television Enterprise, Trans World Associates Inc and many others. Nine country pavilions in all including new entries like Canada and Italy will be exhibiting.

This year`s AMF is set to draw an estimated 5,000 broadcasters, buyers and sellers, distributors, financiers and producers. The eighth edition of the region`s premier trade event will see new milestones in international collaboration and regulatory standards, and will serve as a platform for the discussion and exploration of new media trends.

"We are very pleased to be hosting the AMF in Singapore once again, and are encouraged by the consistent increase in international participation each year. Such strong industry interest in the Festival has translated into compelling business outcomes, with record sales generated at last year`s event. I believe this reflects the region`s confidence, diversity and dynamism in a trusted business environment like Singapore," said Ms Cassandra Tay, Director of Communications and Community & International Relations, MDA.

– AMF 2009 Country Showcase: 2 December 2009 –

The AMF Country Showcase returns for the third year running. Organised by MDA, the half-day seminar brings together key Singapore partner countries in media collaborations and the focus this year is on `International Co-Productions: Opportunities and Incentives`. It will feature talks by government agencies and production houses from at least five countries including Australia, United Kingdom, Sweden and Finland on support schemes as well as co-production and partnership opportunities available in these countries.

"With the rise of Asia`s media industry and the region`s increasing influence on global media productions, it is timely and relevant to discuss the opportunities in international co-productions at this year`s AMF Country Showcase. For Singapore, international coproduction is one of our key strategies for media industry growth and we will continue to leverage Singapore`s strength as a trusted global capital to collaborate and coproduce with partners around the world," said Ms Tay.

– World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Mediation and Expedited Arbitration Scheme for Film and Media Disputes: 3- 4 December 2009 –

WIPO, co-organiser Reed Exhibitions, MDA and the Singapore Film Commission (SFC) will launch the international WIPO Mediation and Expedited Arbitration Scheme for Film and Media Disputes.

This comes on the back of a series of agreements signed between WIPO and Singapore earlier in July, involving the development of an international dispute resolution scheme for film and media disputes and the opening of the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Center (WIPO AMC) in Singapore in January 2010.

As part of the Festival, an introductory session and workshop will be organised for industry executives to generate awareness and understanding of the Scheme.
