Brian Lenz, head of product design and innovation at Sky said, “There is a very good chance you`ll see the London Olympics in 3D". The passive glasses solution was being demoed at the West London head office with the guys at Pocket-lint doing the interview.

They got the impression that the technology was ready to go live today but were told that consumer infrastructure was not in place to warrant a full 3-D launch. Also optimistically bar the current credit crunch Sky felt confident that the industry in the next 2 to 3 years would be in a better place to absorb the 10 to 15% on the bottom-line expense to fully realise the total 3-D experience for other customers.

They mentioned that DreamWorks total future release would be in 3-D and that other major players like Sony will be releasing 3D hardware in the next 12 months if not hinting an announcement at CES 2009.
