Small and not so perfectly formed – 3D Holography

The Japanese National Institute of Information and Communications Technology are making slight headway towards more practical methods of capturing moving images in normal lighting conditions and then displaying them as a 3-D holographic image.

With the aid of a computer, multiple micro fly-eye lenses and an HD camera they are able to capture a 1 cm sized and 2° viewing angle moving image (see article for plan diagram). Tiny steps before hologram capture becomes commonplace. Here`s an example of one image they made earlier.
