The S-3D Gaming Alliance is very pleased to announce two new members:
“Stereoscopic 3D gaming is just beginning to demonstrate the next generation of at-home consumer experiences. HDMI Licensing, LLC is thrilled to be working with S3DGA to accelerate its growth, industry-wide support, and adoption.” – Steve Venuti, President of HDMI Licensing, LLC
HDMI Licensing, LLC is responsible for the HDMI connector on the back of most HDTVs. Their new HDMI 1.4 connector features official stereosccopic 3D support, and is expected to be the back-end of the majority of peripherals including 3D Blu-Ray players, Sony PlayStations, and more.
“Stereoscopic 3D gaming is the most exciting and engaging way to deliver an immersive game experience, and only recently have we gained the technology and momentum to do this properly. S3DGA has been instrumental in driving this by creating the needed alliances between hardware manufacturer, software developer and the games playing public. TGC recognizes the importance of S3DGA, and are proud to have been accepted as a member.” – Lee Bamber, President, TGC
The Game Creators (TGC) have been around for some time and have a cult following. MTBS has worked with them in the past, and they are one of the first game engine developers to implement stereoscopic 3D support via their DarkBASIC product. What sets TGC apart is their products give everyday customers the ability to make their own video games, without having any programming knowledge or formal education. You can really make your own game in a matter of hours!
For those unfamiliar, the S-3D Gaming Alliance (S3DGA) is considered the official voice and standards body for stereoscopic 3D gaming. Some of its leading members include LG Electronics, RealD, DDD, iZ3D, Blitz Games Studios, and more. S3DGA is both non-profit and non-proprietary. Similar to the way the industry rallied around 3D Blu-Ray, S3DGA is a successful movement that is focused on making stereoscopic 3D gaming successful.
