NVIDIA S-3D Avatar Update, Approved TDVision Patent!

By November 19, 2009April 4th, 2020News

NVIDIA released their 195.55 stereo drivers yesterday!

While they offer a clear improvement with Avatar S-3D compatibility and NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision shutter glasses, there is still more to come. As we speak, a new driver build is in the works to further improve performance and and clear whatever visual anomalies remain.

MTBS has been advised that this new driver release is expected out as early as today! Our recommendation is to hold off until this updated driver is released before judging the full Avatar S-3D experience on NVIDIA GeForce 3D Vision.

We have also received word from TDVision Corp. that they have secured an approved patent for auto-convergence in video games, and the patent is deemed valid in the USA, China, and Mexico.

Auto-convergence refers to systems that automatically adjust and compensate for different S-3D camera angles to maintain the best visual comfort from one scene to the next. While it is unclear if this patent impacts their work, DDD and iZ3D drivers offer auto-convergence features for exactly this purpose.

A formal press release is expected to go out shortly. The patent application was filed on June 19th, 2006 and can be accessed via Google.
