FMX/09 a Success! MTBS in Munich, Germany!

FMX/09 was a huge success!

We are currently on the last leg of our trip in Munich, Germany, and will have more to share after we return to Canada this coming Wednesday.

Some highlights were meeting some of our industry’s greats. For example, we had the honor of meeting Keith Elliott, President of Screen’s Edge. As a retired member of Texas Instruments’ DLP team, he was pivotal in encouraging and finding a way to make DLP technology S-3D compatible. This is the same technology used in Samsung and Mitsubishi’s S-3D HDTVs available today.

We were equally pleased to dine with Brian Van’t Hul, Visual Effects Supervisor for Coraline. MTBS’ opinion of Brian is he is a pragmatic realist. In his words, "3D can eaily come and go unless there is a good story to back it up". We completely agree, and look forward to further story based successes in 3D cinema.

For the first time ever, MTBS hosted a technology demo that was jointly represented by iZ3D, Blitz Games Studios, and NVIDIA. All in all, a very positive experience with great interest from end users and game developers alike.

Why no smiles in the picture, you ask? It was a very hot room - but that didn’t stop people from enjoying the S-3D games!

What was the biggest highlight of the trip? This is something special we will save for when we return. An MTBS first!
