Tom Clancy’s HAWX, Panasonic S-3D News

By October 1, 2008April 4th, 2020News

Ubisoft is still hard at work on Tom Clancy’s HAWX, an action packed pseudo flight simulator. Click HERE for a clip of Thomas Simon, Ubisoft’s Lead Developer for the game describing some of the key features. We are all crossing our fingers that this will be S-3D compatible with modern drivers!

In display news, Panasonic exhibited a 150 inch 1080P plasma display – the world’s largest – at its CEATEC Show booth. This in itself is nothing new. What is new is they also demonstrated the world’s first 3D full HD plasma theater system, complete with a prototype Blu-ray Disc player/recorder and a 103 inch full HD 1080P plasma set.

The Blue-ray system features specially encoded discs carrying S-3D images, while the plasma display is an LCD shutter glasses solution. MTBS will take efforts to learn more, but based on the available press material, this is a full resolution S-3D solution, and does not appear to be in the same category as DLP or similar checkerboard systems.

Nothing is slated for release because it is all a show piece until official standards are determined. Panasonic’s choice of standardization is the Blu-ray Disc Association with the cooperation of the Hollywood studios and consumer electronics company members.
