Please make a point to congratulate Epic Games and spread the word as much as possible because it’s the innovators that step up to the plate to move the industry forward. This is just the very beginning of what we need to accomplish to make this industry a mass market success, so take advantage of this momentum and work hard to push further!
Perhaps a bigger news story is that after our presentation, Mark demonstrated Unreal Tournament 3 in front of an audience of nearly 800 people in stereoscopic 3D on a Real D projector. To our knowledge, this is the first time a video game has been demonstrated in S-3D on professional equipment like this. Special thanks go to Sony Imageworks, iZ3D LLC, SIGGRAPH, Real D, and NVIDIA for making this technologically possible. It wasn’t a simple flick of the switch, though this strong team of companies headed up by Rob Engle of Sony Imageworks made it look easy.
This still isn’t a big enough story for you? Ok. After our presentation, a leading game developer who will remain nameless told me that they are actively developing stereoscopic 3D video games that are designed to work on console. Very exciting!
There are additional stories to read about too. We got some exciting dish from NVIDIA, iZ3D, LightSpeed Design, and more. You can read it all HERE.
Last but not least, we interviewed Syd Bolton, the curator of The Personal Computer Museum. We think you will find his interview very interesting, and as a bonus, he judged our Caption Contest. Special thanks go to Games for Windows for making this contest possible. The winner is announced in the interview itself HERE.
