It has been a good quarter for the graphics market. According to Jon Peddie Research, Add-in board (AIB) AKA discrete graphics card sales have jumped 6.4% over the previous quarter which is well above the seasonal average of -4.1% (yes, “negative 4.1%”).
What makes the statistic even more interesting is that while the discrete graphics card sales have risen, the number of PCs sold decreased by 24.5%. Normally, the success of the two would go hand in hand.
AMD increased its quarter to quarter market share by 1.2%, and the overall AIB graphics card sales amounted to over $5 billion dollars!
