So it looks like Microsoft and their partners (Dell, Acer, HP, Lenovo, and ASUS) are building up to full swing. This collection of mixed reality devices are already on track to support the SteamVR API for probable out of the box compatibility with existing VR titles, Microsoft has been showing off their new virtual reality hand controllers, and while all the products are tethered, they all feature inside-out tracking which means they get all the positional benefits without external cameras or infrared laser emitters. Finally, we will have to see if indeed it’s apples to apples, but their pricing has proven to be very competitive with many devices expected to run for less than $400 USD.
