Welcome to the virtual reality version of the “Hold Your Breath Game”! Seemingly on a mission to prove that extended use of virtual reality devices is harmless, Sarah Jones from Coventry University and Dean Johnson, Head of Innovation for Brandwidth, recently spent more than 48 hours wearing virtual reality devices. Their only exceptions were 5 minutes per hour for logging and bathroom breaks.
It wasn’t just about wearing the HMDs, however! Between them, they partaked in stunts like wearing VR goggles while driving go-karts, walking across the wings of an airplane in-flight (via a Samsung Gear VR pass-through camera), and…perhaps most dangerous of all…getting a tattoo. According to Dean Johnson, the only after-effect was some temporary blurry vision for a couple days once the endeavour was complete.
