It’s really unbelievable how many VR related court cases are ongoing!  Check out this list…

Zenimax VS Facebook / Oculus

Final judgement was to the effect that Oculus breached Zenimax NDA and also took part in copyright infringement and false designnation.  Jury awared Zenimax $500 million.  Follow-up cases include injunction by Zenimax to halt the sales of future Oculus Rifts, Oculus is attempting to take Zenimax back to court to nullify award.  Results are still pending from follow-up cases.

As fallout from their successful case against Facebook / Oculus, Zenimax is now suing Samsung for related copyright infringement for their Gear VR product.  Results are to be determined.

Techno View IP inc. VS Sony Corp.

Techno View IP

These cases look to be related.

In association with ImmersiON-VRelia, Techno View IP. Inc. is suing Facebook / Oculus for an infringed patent around “generating a left and right perspective in a 3D video game”.  Results are to be determined.

Techno View IP Inc. is also suing Sony Corp. for patent infringement around “method for generating left and right perspectives  in a 3D video game” and “3D video game system” for the Sony PSVR product.  Results are to be determined.

UploadVR VS Elizabeth Scot

This is a sexual harassment case that accuses UploadVR of everything from demeaning treatment of and discriminating behaviours towards women to wrongful dismissal.  This case has everything – including an office-shared sex bed.  Results are to be determined.
