The Best Headache VR Ever Had

By May 18, 2016March 24th, 2020News

Just caught this on television!

To demonstrate what a migraine sufferer goes through (I’ve had my share), a mixed reality experience was created where the user wears an HMD mixed with stereoscopic 3D cameras.  When the user moves around the room, they see a pixelated blob on top of everything they look at.  From what I can tell, it’s a pretty good demonstration of a classic migraine minus the onslaught of pain that shortly follows.

Here is where things get funny (I think).  First, they are obviously using an Oculus Rift DK2 with the brand name MOSTLY covered with the product name “Excedrin”.  You can actually see the “O” peeping out of the Excedrin product label!

Second, and I know this is a cheap shot, what does it say when the best way to demonstrate what a migraine sufferer goes through is to put an Oculus Rift on their head.  OHHH!  Low blow – couldn’t resist.

Humor aside, it’s really cool that VR is making mass market appearances like this in a meaningful way.  Good stuff!
