First, I get it. Oculus needed a big title, they needed something that easily runs at over 90 frames per second, and it’s a strong message: “play with the greats in rock & roll…in VR”. I get it. There is actually a great history here in that when Nvidia’s 3D Vision Glasses were launched in 2008, Guitar Hero was in their starting line-up too. Rock Band has that potential of being an immersive game, and the more on-stage you feel, the better.
What I’m interested in seeing is if there will be Rift / Hero guitar bundles featuring unique positional tracking of the instruments, or will they be able to somehow mimic the controls of the instruments with their Touch Controllers, though glorified air guitar wouldn’t do the game justice. Whatever they do, they really need to take it up a level like cooperative VR game play or on-stage guitar smash fights…or mosh pit attack zombies if you miss a beat. I’m sure they’ll think of something. 🙂
