ImmersiON-VRelia's GO is a Go!

ImmersiON-VRelia GO

The MTBS team would like to extend our congratulations to the ImmersiON-VRelia team for their impending release of the GO. Designed to work on the top six smartphones (and ability to do more), this unique shell makes it possible to enjoy virtual reality on the iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, Samsung Note 3, Note 4, S4, S5 and OnePlusOne. If you have access to a 3D printer, you can print additional custom fitting plates for different phone models and ImmersiON-VRelia will provide the files where possible. Depending on the phone, the GO will accommodate screen sizes ranging from 4" to 6".

What makes this product stand out is there is no need to wear glasses because each eye can be custom focused by hand, and there is a novel mechanical IPD adjustment so the VR experience is perfectly suited for our physiology. While this is unconfirmed, we theorize the GO's FOV can go as high as 120 degrees, though this is a moving spec because adjustments for eye focus and phone choice can impact this number. The GO also includes a mini gamepad akin to an XBOX controller. Nice touch!

The units are just $139.99 USD, and factoring in the inclusion of a game controller and the ability to work with most modern smartphones, it's a good deal for existing and new smartphone users that need the most flexibility with their device choices.

Their software and content support is continually growing with many titles and options listed on their website, and an SDK is available for interested developers.  While many titles are listed in the above link, highlighted options are further optimized for performance and comfort with the ImmersiON-VRelia SDK.

GO Transparent

We'll get our hands on one of these soon enough for a proper review. If you think about it, with the exception of existing developer kits, this is the first actual VR product release for consumers. Again, congrats to the ImmersiON-VRelia team for getting this out the door. Products are expected to deliver within the next 5-7 weeks.
