Avengers assemble! Two amazing stories to share today.
First, we got the chance to check out AntVR’s latest prototype. For reasons beyond comprehension, AntVR has seemingly received a bad rap since their Kickstarter beginnings, and this is completely unfounded. While waiting for another appointment, we walked through their crowded E3 exhibit and asked “are you doing anything with positional tracking?”
Their answer was in a back room that they gladly showed off on request, and we are glad we asked because we would have missed out otherwise. It’s not as polished as what is readily available and much work continues, but AntVR already has 50+ employees, their E3 exhibit just screamed serious investment, and the fundamentals and drive are there to do some amazing things. Check out the interview – a real highlight for us.
Next, The Immersive Technology Alliance continues to grow. Our latest member is The Third Floor Inc.
“Very rarely do we get the chance to welcome into the world a new format – it is even rarer still that we are we given the opportunity to be part of its development. Virtual Reality is such a unique opportunity. Amongst other applications, for us, it’s an exciting new way to tell stories. We are at the birth of its evolution and I’m personally very excited to see what its future holds.
The Immersive Technology Alliance and its Immersed Access program offers us, as developers, content creators and enthusiasts a forum to interact, discuss and present ideas to one another to help to secure an enduring, stable and enriching platform for VR.” – Duncan Burbidge, Executive Producer, The Third Floor London Inc.
If you enjoyed Avatar, The Avengers, Iron Man 3, or Star Trek, you know The Third Floor. They are tops in previsualizing blockbuster movies and video game cinematics (they regularly work with Electronic Arts and Capcom Games), and they are taking a very direct interest in virtual reality. We are very excited to have them on-board!
